All the buzz surrounding Acura as of late has been because of the all-new NSX hybrid supercar. Now some of the buzz is being shifted to the 2017 Acura MDX crossover that was revealed at the New York International Auto Show. Even though the hype around the NSX is very apparent, the MDX is an important vehicle to the automaker. Last year, the MDX accounted for one-third of the automaker’s total sales in the U.S. market and it was the second best-selling vehicle within the midsize luxury SUV segment, which happens to be one of the most competitive segments in the market. This will be the first redesign of the third-generation MDX since 2013. Modifications include a new front end with a diamond pentagon front grille, clamshell hood, sculpted body, and jewel-eye headlights. Acura has enhanced the powertrains as well. The Acura MDX Sport Hybrid model, in particular, has been fitted with a 3.0-liter V-6 engine linked to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission to deliver 325 horsepower. Additionally, the model will have a fuel economy of 26 mpg combined. CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas expects for the 2017 Acura MDX to go on sale this summer.
