This Is It. The 2017 Acura TLX.

Acura TLXOur performance luxury sedan is nothing short of perfection. With three engine choices, four driving options and state of the art safety features, taking home the #2017TLX is never a bad idea. Let’s dig deeper into what this powerhouse has to offer.

Your driving experience will be enhanced every time you get behind the wheel of the TLX. The world’s first ever P-AWS technology or available SH-AWD handling system will give you the feeling of control. With the Precision All-Wheel Steering system, changing lanes, cornering or braking will be more stabilized because the toe angle of the rear wheels adjusts independently. The Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system allows the power to be distributed only when it’s needed.

No matter what kind of mood you’re in, there’s a driving option waiting for you with the Integrated Dynamics System. The Normal mode blends handling and comfort to give just the right amount of efficiency and performance. In the Econ mode, the cooling process and sensitivity are slowed, providing consistant speed in order to maintain its fuel efficiency. Be prepared for a little more engine noise with the Sport mode. It’s great if you’re looking for firmer steering and responsiveness with SH-AWD or P-AWS. Lastly, power is increased and paddle shifters are put into manual mode in the Sport+ option.

Keeping passengers, and yourself, safe is our biggest priority. The Acura manufacturer made sure to add top-notch safety features to the TLX. Its Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, or ACE, is comprised of an aluminum hood, hot-stamped door frame ring and magnesium instrument panel harness, all helping to disperse impact force in front collisions. We’ve even gone one step ahead with the CMBS. This Collision Mitigation Braking System is set up to detect objects ahead and determine closing speed and distance. Seat belts will tug and the brakes will kick in to remind drivers to take precaution. Accidents, however, are at times unavoidable. The system is designed to reduce force and impact when an unfortunate situation arises.

Another standard safety feature is the Vehicle Stability Assist. This VSA system combines ABS with various sensors to monitor individual wheel speeds, lateral G-force, yaw rate, throttle position, vehicle speed and steering angle. Engine speed is reduced and brakes are applied as needed when the potential for under or oversteering is detected or loss of traction occurs. A sense of awareness comes with the TLX, too. Whether it be the adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist or blind spot information system, you’ll drive with confidence and feel protected behind the wheel.

Safety Features in the Acura RLX

 2016-rlx-exterior-with-advance-package-in-graphite-luster-metallic-bridge-1

The Acura RLX is the complete package with advanced technology and safety features. There are 3-point belts and head restraints on all 5 seating positions. There are additional e-pre-tensioners for the front seat belts to make the experience of wearing a seat belt less uncomfortable. The seat belt pulls the passenger back when impact is detected. The reaction time of the tensioner is as less as milliseconds post impact; they tighten automatically around the front belt to prevent the passenger from being thrown in front. There are load limiters added to the tensioners to alleviate the pressure on the chest. The two airbags in the front are accompanied by 2 side bags and a side curtain to provide coverage to the outboard occupants. There are additional knee bags on the driver’s seat. There are sensors that detect the presence of occupants in the front seat and prevent the airbags from deploying when empty or when the occupant is a child.

There are additional features to improve child safety that range from child secure seats to child airbags. LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) anchors LATCH compatible child seats with ease.

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure of the car improves the occupant protection during frontal crashes through the utilization of a connected network of structural elements that distribute crash energy evenly along the front of the vehicle. The RLX received a “Good” rating on the impact text conducted by the IIHS in 2016.
