Like most things Tony Stark probably has the luxury of enjoying, the Acura NSX Roadster that he flaunts in the 2012 Avengers movie is one of a kind. Seriously, only one of its kind exists, and thankfully it was never intended to be used in a car chase sequence or explosion. Otherwise, ordinary car loving people would not have had the pleasure and honor of driving the Avengers Acura NSX Roadster. The car was built in Oxnard, California, by the Trans FX prototype shop.
It’s a good thing it wasn’t used in any action sequence, because Iron Man’s NSX Roadster was definitely not built for that kind of potential abuse. The car is absolutely gorgeous and it rides really low. Now, while the exterior gives the impression that it is an ultra-modern car, the interior says otherwise, which is that the ‘Marvel’-ous Acura NSX Roadster is really a 1991 Acura NSX. The only adjustments made to the interior are the Procar seats, red center console to go with the Iron Man theme, and some electrical tape covering the top center vents.
The styling was inspired by the NSX Concept that was revealed at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit the same year the movie came out. Tony Stark’s NSX Roadster, though, has a more rounded nose and tail, and no roof. Other customizations include the LED taillights and the Iron Man red color paint.
