Acura has set its new sights on the future in the 2018 cycle and it is going to set a new standard from this point forward. CardinaleWay Acura of Las Vegas shares this forward-looking vision and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Acura new cars.
The redesigned ILX will likely debut in 2018 as the 2019 Model. A new model would use the same 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to generate 205-horsepower. There is also a possibility that a performance-designed model could be released in the likes of the Civic Type R 2.0-liter turbo four.
Acura has given this midsize vehicle a new look for the 2018 cycle that added a new corporate grille and new sheet metal in the front and rear. In addition to that, there is a host of chassis and refinement upgrades and a new A-Spec trim package. There is an expected redesign due in 2020 as a 2021 model. There are rumors that it will get rid of the current engine in favor of Honda’s 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder and the 2.0-liter turbo four.
In the 2018 year, you can expect a cosmetic upgrade similar to those on the recent TLX update. The six-speed automatic gearbox has a chance to be replaced with Honda’s nine or ten speed automatic and hook up to the same 3.5-liter V6.
There hasn’t been much buzz about this China-exclusive vehicle coming to America. If it does, we can expect it to show up in 2019.
The redesigned RDX is the first major overhaul and will be expected in early 2018 as the 2019 model. This compact crossover will use the same platform as the Honda CR-V and you can expect to see Honda’s 2.0-liter turbo four to replace the current V-6.
The MDX was redesigned in 2017 with a new front clip and an optional hybrid powertrain. These changes will carry the crossover up until a new looks hits it in 2019 as the 2020 model.
Everyone is anticipating the various versions of the NSX to hit the marketplace. The models people are looking for is the open-top targa model, an all-electric version and a track-focused Type R model.
