Acura Owners: The DMV Urges You To Check Recall Related To Takata Airbags

Are you currently driving a 2002-2003 Acura?  Then it’s time to bring it to CardinaleWay Acura in Las Vegas.  The New York State DMV is urging owners of certain Acura vehicles to check a safety recall related to Takata airbags.  There are some 2002-2003 #Acura models that, according to tests on Takata airbags, show a 50 percent chance of ruptures during the airbag deployments.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they estimate up to 3,778 Acuras in New York State still need to participate in the recall.

The NHTSA has confirmed 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries in the U.S. were specifically related to ruptures of Takata airbag inflators.  According to the DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan, the risk of death or serious injury in a crash is high enough that the NHTSA is warning owners not to drive their vehicles, unless they are bringing them in to be repaired.

The specific Acura models affected by this recall are the 2002-2003 Acura TL and the 2003 Acura CL.

Those that may not be sure if their vehicle is part of the recall can visit Just enter your Vehicle Identification Number to check if their vehicle is affected by any recalls.
