Automotive Review Praise
The automotive media is impressed by the 2021 Acura TLX. Jalopnik wrote: “It seems as though Acura is starting to reclaim some of the sporty-casual lux energy that made the brand appealing originally. Like early Acuras, the 2021 TLX isn’t radical but it is nice looking, nice to drive and a lot of car for what it costs.”
Standard features for the base trim include 18-inch wheels with high-performance all-season tires, LED lights, keyless entry with push-button start, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 12-way power-operated and heated front seats, and a moonroof. The instrument cluster contains a 7-inch digital information screen. The infotainment system features a 10.2-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium audio system with 10 speakers and twin subwoofers, and over-the-air updates.
Also standard is the AcuraWatch suite of safety features. It comes with adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, road-departure mitigation, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, Traffic Jam Assist and a driver-attention monitor.
Audiophiles will love the available ELS premium audio system. Studio engineer Elliot Scheiner designed this rig in partnership with Panasonic. Opt for the 17-speaker version of this stereo system, and you’ll be amazed by the crisp, vibrant sound.
The IIHS named the 2021 Acura TLX a Top Safety Pick+, with the highest score of Good in all crash tests. The TLX also received the best marks of Superior for its standard front crash prevention systems. As of this writing, the NHTSA hasn’t crash-tested the 2021 TLX, but the 2020 model is nearly identical, so we expect the same results as last year when the TLX received the best rating of five stars for overall safety.
