Five of Acura’s Six Vehicles Are Built In Ohio

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

Acura’s MDX luxury SUV is now produced at the East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) in Marysville, Ohio. ELP joins Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, Ala. in producing the MDX. The Acura NSX supercar and the TLX and ILX luxury sedans are also produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville. CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas is proud our vehicles are built in America. We invite you to come test drive our Acura new cars.

MDX Production
Upgrades to the East Liberty Auto Plant make it possible for the ELP to assume sole production of the MDX this fall, freeing up the Alabama plant to increase production of the Honda Pilot.

“From our startup three decades ago producing small sedans to the three different light trucks we build today, our associates continue to demonstrate the skills needed for high quality and flexible manufacturing,” said Tim Myers, East Liberty Auto Plant Manager. “I’m proud of the commitment of our team to take on new challenges to meet the needs of our customers.”

The 2017 Acura MDX now includes many new features and technologies, such as the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies. These are now offered as standard equipment on all 2017 MDX models, a first in the luxury SUV segment.

East Liberty Plant
More than 2,300 employees staff the East Liberty Plant. The plant employs 2,350 technicians and has the annual capacity to manufacture 240,000 passenger cars and light trucks. The 2.8 million square foot plant started production in December 1989.

Acura Debuts the 2018 TLX A-Spec in Pikes Peak Open

Thursday, June 29th, 2017

Acura will have a fleet of vehicles taking part in the Pikes Peak Open. The turbocharged, 500-horsepower 2018 TLX A-Spec will compete in the exhibition class. The TLX GT will once again compete in the Pikes Peak Open class. The GT3-inspired Acura NSX supercar will compete in the Time Attack 1 Class and the Acura TLX and MDX will serve as official pace cars and Rookie Orientation vehicles. If you’d like to test drive the luxury counterparts of these cars, come to CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas where we have a complete inventory of Acura new cars. This is the sixth consecutive year that Acura will race vehicles in the Pikes Peak event.

2018 Acura TLX A-Spec Racing Debut
The Pikes Peak Acura TLX A-Spec has been modified for this hill climb course. Custom engine software and tuning was done in-house by a team of North American Honda R&D engineers. In addition, all luxury appointments were removed from the inside to reduce weight. Driver Nick Robinson has run the course for several years, winning the motorcycle Pikes Peak 250 class in 2014. Last year, Robinson won the Time Attack 2 Production class, driving the 2017 NSX.

Acura TLX GT Returns to Competition
The all-wheel drive TLX GT race car features the same twin-turbo V6 motor setup used in the Pirelli World Challenge series. It has been tuned on multiple levels to accommodate the elevation changes of Pikes Peak. The TLX GT will be driven by Peter Cunningham of RealTime Racing who has been racing Acuras since 1992. This is Cunningham’s first Pikes Peak race. He has won 14 professional drivers’ championships in a variety of disciplines including road racing, ice racing and performance rallying.

“I’ve always wanted to race with Acura at Pikes Peak. It’s a challenge I’ve never done,” said Cunningham.  “I think we have a great opportunity with the Acura TLX GT and look forward to seeing how it competes on the hill.”

Acura Unveils Enhanced 2018 TLX in New York

Thursday, April 13th, 2017

2018 Acura TLX

Acura will unveil the refreshed and significantly upgraded 2018 TLX performance sedan in New York in April. We expect to see it in our Las Vegas CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas dealership later this year. We’ll let you know when it arrives so you can schedule a test drive of this exceptional car.

2018 TLX Sneak Preview
The #2018TLX boasts a more aggressive, sporty and alluring look that was inspired by the Acura Precision Concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in 2016. This same design direction already influenced the styling of the popular 2017 Acura MDX. The TLX upgrade also includes new premium features and technology enhancements that place the TLX among the most technologically advanced and well-equipped cars in its segment.

“The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura’s focus on Precision Crafted Performance,”said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager. “Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we’re pumped to show how we’re elevating the TLX experience.”

The Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California is responsible for the design of the 2018 TLX five-passenger performance sedan. It is being produced in the U.S. at Acura’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio with domestic and globally sourced parts.

Update on CardinaleWay Acura’s MDX Production Location

Thursday, February 2nd, 2017

Acura MDX

In early January, CardinaleWay Acura learned exciting news about our ever-so-popular luxury SUV. Company officials at the North American International Auto Show revealed that production of the #MDX would be moved to East Liberty, Ohio.

Where It Was Made Previously

Acura is the luxury brand of the Honda corporation. The MDX had previously been made solely in Alabama. In 2016, Honda announced that production of our SUV would be split between Alabama and East Liberty, Ohio, where the Honda CR-V was also made. Now that the time has come, it looks like a shift has occurred and the MDX will be produced solely in East Liberty.

Why Production Is Being Transferred

The change really comes down to capacity utilization and flexibility. Now, almost all of the Acura manufacturer production will be based in Ohio. Our ILX and TLX sedans are assembled in Marysville, Ohio. Marysville also houses a specialized plan for our NSX supercar. The RDX crossover, and now the MDX, are assembled in East Liberty. The only vehicle not produced in Ohio is the RLX. This sedan is a light seller that is assembled in Japan. Moving production of the MDX from Alabama frees up space for production of other Honda models. Partial CR-V assembly will now be at the plant in Indiana.

Why You Should Stop By CardinaleWay Acura

We promise you’ll receive top notch customer service at our convenient Acura Las Vegas location. If you’re in the market for a luxury SUV like the MDX, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can check out our full list of inventory and schedule an appointment at www.cardinalewayacura.com.

December Acura Sales Records At All Time High

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

acura logo 2

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. reports that both Honda & Acura vehicles ended 2016 at a record high. Breaking all-time annual sales records, the numbers rose 6.4% from 2015’s record. Combined, the trucks nabbed not only a new monthly, but also yearly record, rising 17.4% in December and 5.6% in all of 2016.

In 2016 the Acura manufacturer annual sales were 161,360. In December, Acura sales were up 1.9% over the same month in 2015. Car and truck totals were 17,148 combined. Our trucks, however, gained 8.9%. For the third year in a row, Acura truck sales exceeded 100,000. With sales of 12,188 in December, #Acuratrucks record the best month in the manufacturer’s history. The midsize RDX gained 20.3% in December with 5,945 vehicles sold and 2.6% for the year with 52,361 sold; best-ever totals. Our popular MDX saw its best sales month of the year and for the fifth straight year exceeded 50,000 units. It remains the all-time best-selling luxury three-row SUV in America.

In the sedan category, the RLX made a significant gain in December and TLX sales were up, as well. December 2016 was the best month yet for our second-generation NSX, with 68 supercars sold.

Jon Ikeda, who is vice president and general manager of our Acura division said “With Acura trucks leading the way and the TLX performing strongly in a challenging market for sedans, we were able to finish our 30th anniversary year on a strong note. We’re excited to carry this momentum, with a strong future vision for Acura, into the new year.”

We certainly agree with Jon and look forward to contributing to record breaking numbers in 2017. Check out a complete inventory of our vehicles at www.cardinalewayacura.com. The Acura MDX Crossover, Part II: So Popular For So Many Reasons

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Acura MDX 2

This is the second of two blogs highlighting the many safety features of #Acura’s MDX Crossover mid-size luxury SUV.  There are so many features and thus, so many reasons why the popularity of this vehicle continues to grow in its third generation.

How safe is the MDX Crossover?  In addition to the standard safety features (numerous airbags, stability and traction control and LED daytime running lights), other safety features are included in all MDX models.

The AcuraWatch Plus is a suite of active safety features:  adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist and lane departure warning. In order to prepare the MDX vehicle and its occupants for a frontal impact, the collision mitigation braking automatically applies the brakes as needed and tightens the seatbelts.

Acura Shows Off Skills with SEMA Concepts

Tuesday, November 8th, 2016

CWay Acura 6 shutterstock_295848926

Acura recently introduced the TLX GT package and stated that it would head to the Specialty Equipment Market Association, more commonly known as SEMA, Aftermarket Show. Acura will debut what is believed to be a triple threat SEMA concept which includes a NSX GT3 racecar, a 2017 MDX crossover that has been said to have been modified to look like the NSX GT3 and a custom trailer that has been designed to tow the racecar.

The custom trailer was built to look like the roll cage of the NSX GT3. The trailer has 20-inch wheels that are nearly identical to the wheels of the MDX. To properly load the trailer, hydraulic pumps were installed to raise and lower the trailer bed, which is all powered by a 12-volt battery.

The MDX has had slight modifications. The vehicle has been lowered by 1.75 inches, and the suspension components have all been blacked out.  The brake calipers have been painted orange for extra flair, and a tow package was installed with some extra transmission cooling. The front splitter was designed to look like the lower valence of the NSX GT3.

Although these won’t be on sale at a dealership near you, they show Acura’s skills when it comes to designing incredible cars. If you are looking to purchase a new luxurious #Acura, come see us at CardinaleWay Acura. For more information about the cars currently in our inventory, check out our website at www.CardinaleWayAcura.com.
