Acura’s Customer Satisfaction Program – Part II

Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

2014 RLX

As a luxury car manufacturer, Acura understands that delivering a luxurious customer experience is part of what you’re selling to your customers. It’s the package – product as well as the service. With the change in how people shop nowadays because of the internet, handling customer interaction and gauging their experience has become a new challenge. So, Acura is working towards enhancing the customer dealership experience by “trying to figure out how to deal with the new reality and still make money”, according to Chuck Kendig. Assistant Vice President – Parts and Service at Acura in the U.S.

While internet shopping is definitely an area of growth, brick-and-mortar dealerships are a defining aspect of the image for luxury brands. Acura has embarked on a program providing training and support to dealerships. The program focuses on how to interact with customers and respecting their time. This also means getting basic service right and providing convenience at all stages, including during payment. Acura is requesting its dealers to use customer-relationship-management (CRM) software systems effectively for providing better customer service. It also wants its dealers to provide express services for light repair and maintenance work.

In terms of sales and marketing, Acura is not interested in the mall-store model, which it deems as not the most efficient. Mike Accavitti, GM of Acura in the U.S., says that continuing and expanding sponsorships are a good way to introduce the brand to new buyers. Having people ride in their cars at big events is an effective way of demonstrating the capabilities of their vehicles, such as their all-wheel drive and luxury features.

The MDX From Acura Gets the “Most Aggressive Refresh” Ever

The recent announcement of the upgradation of the 3-row MDX crossover was met with general excitement. The luxury brand from Honda announced the upgrade along with increasing the production of the MDX to meet demand.  The new plant is to open in Ohio and the model will be built in Alabama as well. The new plants will increase manufacturing capacity to 10,000-15,000 additional cars, annually.

The 2017 MDX is rumored to hit the market in late summer. A hybrid version is expected later this year. The car remains the highest selling version even 7 years after its launch. The fresh look hopes to keep the trend running.

The new model will include the “diamond pentagon grille” which debuted on the concept vehicle Acura Precision. The executive vice president of Acura, John Mendel commented that the rework on the MDX is the most aggressive refresh they’ve ever done to any Acura car.

The 2016 MDX has a nine speed automatic transmission replacing the 6 speed from the 2015 model. The weight is reduced with a decrease in 66 pounds to improve acceleration and a 25 percent increased shift times. The gear selector is an all-new push-button instead of the old column mount design.

The handling of the new MDX has changed to the next generation Super-Handing All-Wheel drive through an improvement in the torque-vector responsiveness (stability and agility is also improved, as a result). The fuel economy of the model remains unchanged.

The MDX is available at CardinaleWay Acura. Walk in today for a test drive.

Acura

Did you know that Acura is the only luxury brand that has been awarded Top Safety Ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration across its entire lineup. The automaker’s number one priority is to keep its vehicle owners and passengers as safe as possible. Acura even goes above and beyond just meeting government regulations and keep vehicle occupants safe as the automaker also aims to keep pedestrians and all other road users safe. Acura even has a scrapbook of thank you letters from consumers, so its employees can constantly remind themselves of why they do what they do. Safety technologies that are available in all of its vehicles include AcuraWatch, Vehicle Stability Assist, and the Collision Mitigation Braking System. Additionally, the Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure reduces the force of an accident by dispersing the energy throughout the entire vehicle in front crashes.
