Five of Acura’s Six Vehicles Are Built In Ohio

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

Acura’s MDX luxury SUV is now produced at the East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) in Marysville, Ohio. ELP joins Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, Ala. in producing the MDX. The Acura NSX supercar and the TLX and ILX luxury sedans are also produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville. CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas is proud our vehicles are built in America. We invite you to come test drive our Acura new cars.

MDX Production
Upgrades to the East Liberty Auto Plant make it possible for the ELP to assume sole production of the MDX this fall, freeing up the Alabama plant to increase production of the Honda Pilot.

“From our startup three decades ago producing small sedans to the three different light trucks we build today, our associates continue to demonstrate the skills needed for high quality and flexible manufacturing,” said Tim Myers, East Liberty Auto Plant Manager. “I’m proud of the commitment of our team to take on new challenges to meet the needs of our customers.”

The 2017 Acura MDX now includes many new features and technologies, such as the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies. These are now offered as standard equipment on all 2017 MDX models, a first in the luxury SUV segment.

East Liberty Plant
More than 2,300 employees staff the East Liberty Plant. The plant employs 2,350 technicians and has the annual capacity to manufacture 240,000 passenger cars and light trucks. The 2.8 million square foot plant started production in December 1989.

2018 Acura TLX

Acura will unveil the refreshed and significantly upgraded 2018 TLX performance sedan in New York in April. We expect to see it in our Las Vegas CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas dealership later this year. We’ll let you know when it arrives so you can schedule a test drive of this exceptional car.

2018 TLX Sneak Preview
The #2018TLX boasts a more aggressive, sporty and alluring look that was inspired by the Acura Precision Concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in 2016. This same design direction already influenced the styling of the popular 2017 Acura MDX. The TLX upgrade also includes new premium features and technology enhancements that place the TLX among the most technologically advanced and well-equipped cars in its segment.

“The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura’s focus on Precision Crafted Performance,”said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager. “Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we’re pumped to show how we’re elevating the TLX experience.”

The Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California is responsible for the design of the 2018 TLX five-passenger performance sedan. It is being produced in the U.S. at Acura’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio with domestic and globally sourced parts.

Protecting Your Vehicle From Theft: Tips From CardinaleWay Acura

Wednesday, February 8th, 2017

acura logo 2

CardinaleWay Acura knows that vehicle theft can happen to anyone. Whether you have a baseline #ILX or Technology packed NSX supercar, your vehicle can be targeted. Most stolen vehicles are never recovered so we wanted to share a few tips to prevent yourself from being a victim of theft.

Types Of Thieves

Auto theft professionals commit the majority of crimes. These types of criminals choose popular models as well as high-performance. Requested vehicles are stolen and shipped to other countries and popular models are sent to “chop shops” so they can be dismantled and sold for their parts. Luxury or high-performance vehicles are favored by joy-riders and are typically recovered with significant damage. Some thieves will bump into you at a stop light and when you get out to check the damage, they carjack you. This is called the “bump-and-rob.”

Simple Prevention Suggestions

  1. Whether parked or driving, always lock your vehicle.
  2. Make sure you never leave your vehicle unattended; unlocked and running.
  3. Never leave valuables in plain sight, even if the doors are locked. This makes it for an easy target.
  4. Always have 15-second awareness, as it’s easier for criminals to target someone who is not paying attention. Try not to be looking at your phone while walking alone to your vehicle. This is extra important in a garage, gas station or parking lot.
  5. At night, park in a well-lit location if you have the option and be extra cautious.
  6. Leave extra room in front of you when at a stop light. If bumped into, it makes it easier to maneuver around so you can drive to a well lit and populated area. Call the police with a cell phone if possible before getting out of the vehicle.
  7. Motion sensor alarms are a loud and effective deterrent if you have to park in a undesirable neighborhood.
  8. Never leave your doors unlocked with keys hidden inside the vehicles. The thieves have most likely done this before and know where to look.
  9. A GPS-tracking device can be installed if you have concern.
  10. Know all of the important information for your vehicle including the VIN (vehicle identification number), make, model, year and license plate number. We suggest keeping a list on your cell phone as well as pictures so it’s easily obtainable if you end up having to file a police report.

Quick Overview Of The 2017 Acura ILX

Wednesday, January 25th, 2017

Acura ILX 2017 1 When it comes to a sports sedan, the 2017 Acura ILX has everything you need. It’s pretty simple to select this vehicle over its luxury front-wheel-drive compact rivals. You have one transmission, one engine and three trim levels to choose from. If you’re looking for an easy decision, this is the vehicle for you.

The #ILX has not changed for 2017. You’ll see the 2016 updates comprised of higher quality interior finishes, LED headlamps and more available connectivity. Standard features include power driver’s seat, Bluetooth, power moonroof and a multi-view rearview camera. The Premium trim level will give you dual-screen infotainment, blind-spot monitors, leather, rear cross-traffic alert and a power passenger seat. You’ll get leather seat trim, a navigation system and 17” silver aluminum wheels with the Technology Plus package.

It might be the smallest family member of the Acura new cars but with 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, it still packs a good punch. The paddle-shifting twin-clutch 8-speed automatic transmission and 2.4-liter four cylinder engine keeps it feeling sporty and innovative. A sportier customer may choose to add the A-Spec package to get foglamps, 18” 10-spoke wheels and a spoiler.

The EPA rates the ILX at 25 miles per gallon for city driving and 35 mpg on the highway. It receives five stars from the NHTSA for crash safety, top scores from the IIHS and a Top Safety Pick+ rating for its available advanced safety systems.

Acura Compact Sport Sedan: What is ILX?

Monday, December 26th, 2016

Acura ILX

How is the #Acura ILX redefining the compact sport-sedan category?

First, the ILX has bold styling and its rapid-shifting 8-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) and high-revving standard 201-hp engine turn any road into a driving experience.

The A-SPEC Package takes styling to the next level for the Acura ILX.

The interior and exterior details provide a sportier, bolder appearance. A prospective buyer can choose 18-inch wheels, trunk spoiler, fog lights,

side sills, aluminum pedals, red interior lighting accents, gray contrast stitching and black headliner. In addition, perforated Lux Suede seat inserts are similar refinements as those in the NSX model.

Second, the ELS Studio Premium Audio System provides an audio experience like no other.  The sound has enhanced clarity and is tuned by Grammy award-winning recording engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner. The ELS Studio Premium Audio System has been designed with the goal of reproducing music with the quality of a professional recording studio.

The surround sound can fill the ILX from any stereo digital source.

Lastly, the Acura’s Jewel Eye LED headlights use ten separate LED lamps that mimic natural sunlight.  There are five low-profile LEDs per headlight that provide a brighter, whiter beam, using less energy and lasting much  longer than HID or traditional halogen headlights. The intense, focused beams of light helps the driver view colors more vividly and reduce fatigue at night.

An Overview Of Acura’s Safety

Wednesday, August 24th, 2016

Acura Safety

Acura has an impressive record of integrating safety features in its vehicles. It is the conviction of the carmaker that when you own and drive any luxury car, the experience should be highly enjoyable. While its designers and engineers focus on the various exhilarating feature’s of the various vehicles, one of the top priorities of Acura has been safety for its occupants.

For instance the RDX, TLX and ILX for the model year 2017 and the RLX and MDX models for 2016 have all been accorded with 5 start ratings on the side impact tests and the font crash tests of NCAP. The last two models for 2017 are yet to be tested.  The above mentioned vehicles have also earned five-star rating in the Overall Vehicle Scores.

But such an impressive performance in the category of crash testing is not new for this carmaker. In 2009, Acura had earned the distinction of becoming the maiden luxury brand to earn the a five-star rating from NHTSA in the category of crash safety for the side impact and front crash tests for all the models.

The same year saw Acura becoming the maiden carmaker to have all its models get a designation of Top Safety Pick from the IIHS or Institute for Highway Safety.  The 2016 models of RDX, MDX, RLX and ILX have all earned the ratings of Top Safety Pick+ and this is IIHS’ highest safety rating.

The engineers in Acura have always given high preference to the safety of the vehicles. Way back in 1987 which was even less than 12 months since the company made its debut, an airbag for the driver was provided as a safety feature for its Legend Coupe. It was more than a decade ahead of the agencies making the same mandatory in the cars.

Acura Sales Report for April 2016

Monday, May 30th, 2016

 Acura

As of May 3rd, 2016, Acura has a reported sales number as record-breaking for the month of April. Combined with Honda, Acura vehicles saw the sales of 148, 829 vehicles, a number that is up 14% from the previous month. The new monthly record was also broken for Honda, which sold 132, 623 vehicles with a 15.5% increase from their sales in April 2015. As for Acura, division sales went up to 16,206, a 9% increase from the April sales of last year.

Gaining so much as a foothold in the luxury vehicle segment is very difficult, yet Acura has managed to carve out a space for itself in this segment with much aplomb with record sedan and truck sales in April 2016. Even the RDX luxury SUV series showed a sales spike, and sedans sold at over 5,500 units in terms of the ILX gateway and the TLX performance luxury sedan modes. The ILX gateway sold around 1,633 units in April, while the RDX recorded 5,905 units sold.

All in all, with significant increases in sales numbers from the previous month, and indeed the previous year, both Honda and Acura are looking at remaining steady in the competitive automotive market this year. With Honda and Acura looking to develop automated cars, as evidenced with the recent testing of the second generation automated Acura, this is no reason to doubt that both brands will continue to maintain, if not exceed, their current sales numbers and projections for the next year. For more details, get in touch with CardinaleWay Acura.

Safety Features of the Acura ILX

Monday, April 4th, 2016

2016-ilx-interior-with-technology-plus-and-a-spec-packages-rdm

The brand new ILX is prepared to provide fundamental performance that will prepare you for whatever the road ahead brings. Drivers of the ILX can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle has some of the most advanced safety features in the marketplace today.

A tire pressure monitoring system ensures that you are always aware of the level of inflation of your tires and allows you to ensure that you are not met with unwanted surprises due to flat tires or tire blowouts on the side of the road. Headrests are provided for both the seats in the front and for all the three seats in the back as well. These headrests are mechanized with adjustable heights. The controls were fixed to maintain the stability of the car even on the bad path and for the traction to keep hold of the steering even in unavoidable driving situations.

The belt with a 3-point on the centre of the rear helps to keep the passenger hold to seat even during a sudden braking that can otherwise cause injury. The airbags are intuited with occupant sensing technologies that provide two major benefits. The first is that the occupant classification system is able to detect the size of the passenger and deploy airbags in the event of a collision at an appropriate speed. At the same time, if an occupant is not in that particular seat at the time of a collision, the system can detect that as well and will avoid deployment, saving you money on the replacement of the cost of a replacement airbag.

The headlamps are fixed with the LED lights and an automatic dusk sensing option that gives a clear ray of light in noticing the conditions of the road and other objects. The airbags are provided for all the seats on both front and rear as well as side airbags to provide an added level of protection in the event of a side collision. The ILX is provided with anchors that can lockup the seat or prams and door lock safety for rear doors to ensure children seated in the rear are secure.

Visit CardinaleWay Acura to explore the safety features employed on the Acura lineup and the ways in which Acura’s excellent line of vehicles will keep you safe and sound.
