Acura Owners: The DMV Urges You To Check Recall Related To Takata Airbags

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Are you currently driving a 2002-2003 Acura?  Then it’s time to bring it to CardinaleWay Acura in Las Vegas.  The New York State DMV is urging owners of certain Acura vehicles to check a safety recall related to Takata airbags.  There are some 2002-2003 #Acura models that, according to tests on Takata airbags, show a 50 percent chance of ruptures during the airbag deployments.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they estimate up to 3,778 Acuras in New York State still need to participate in the recall.

The NHTSA has confirmed 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries in the U.S. were specifically related to ruptures of Takata airbag inflators.  According to the DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan, the risk of death or serious injury in a crash is high enough that the NHTSA is warning owners not to drive their vehicles, unless they are bringing them in to be repaired.

The specific Acura models affected by this recall are the 2002-2003 Acura TL and the 2003 Acura CL.

Those that may not be sure if their vehicle is part of the recall can visit safercar.gov. Just enter your Vehicle Identification Number to check if their vehicle is affected by any recalls.

Acura RDX – Safety Features

Wednesday, May 11th, 2016

2017-rdx-exterior-in-white-diamond-pearl-tall-trees-1

Apart from the amazing performance, technology, and design features that come with the Acura RDX SUV for 2016, the safety features installed in this amazing SUV will be sure to not only keep the driver safe at all times but the entire family as well. And here’s how:

The 2016 Acura RDX SUV comes with all the standard safety features such as traction and stability control, antilock braking system, front and side airbags for the driver and passenger seats, side curtain airbags, rearview camera and mirror as well as active front head restraints. If you want further safety features and equipment installed in your Acura SUV you would have to go for the optional safety equipment that comes in various packages. These include forward collision warning and mitigation system with automatic brakes, lane departure warning system, a blind-spot monitor, and a lane departure intervention system.

Experts who tried out these safety features found that even though these safety systems and features all seem standard and what you would find in any other regular car or SUV, the collision alarms were going off even when the car was nowhere close to coming into a collision. That’s how sensitive the collision and safety alarms were. The adaptive cruise control system acts quickly when the driver steps on the brakes and slows down acceleration when the driver is trying to get back up to speed quickly. This helps avoid reckless and careless driving.

This car received a high score of five stars for overall crash control and protection from the government including total front and side impact safety. The IIHS or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2016 Acura RDX SUV its highest score possible.

Pick up your very own Acura RDX SUV at the CardinaleWay Acura showroom today and enjoy the perks of incredibly safe driving.

Safety Features in the Acura RLX

Monday, May 2nd, 2016

 2016-rlx-exterior-with-advance-package-in-graphite-luster-metallic-bridge-1

The Acura RLX is the complete package with advanced technology and safety features. There are 3-point belts and head restraints on all 5 seating positions. There are additional e-pre-tensioners for the front seat belts to make the experience of wearing a seat belt less uncomfortable. The seat belt pulls the passenger back when impact is detected. The reaction time of the tensioner is as less as milliseconds post impact; they tighten automatically around the front belt to prevent the passenger from being thrown in front. There are load limiters added to the tensioners to alleviate the pressure on the chest. The two airbags in the front are accompanied by 2 side bags and a side curtain to provide coverage to the outboard occupants. There are additional knee bags on the driver’s seat. There are sensors that detect the presence of occupants in the front seat and prevent the airbags from deploying when empty or when the occupant is a child.

There are additional features to improve child safety that range from child secure seats to child airbags. LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) anchors LATCH compatible child seats with ease.

The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure of the car improves the occupant protection during frontal crashes through the utilization of a connected network of structural elements that distribute crash energy evenly along the front of the vehicle. The RLX received a “Good” rating on the impact text conducted by the IIHS in 2016.

Safety Features of the Acura ILX

Monday, April 4th, 2016

2016-ilx-interior-with-technology-plus-and-a-spec-packages-rdm

The brand new ILX is prepared to provide fundamental performance that will prepare you for whatever the road ahead brings. Drivers of the ILX can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle has some of the most advanced safety features in the marketplace today.

A tire pressure monitoring system ensures that you are always aware of the level of inflation of your tires and allows you to ensure that you are not met with unwanted surprises due to flat tires or tire blowouts on the side of the road. Headrests are provided for both the seats in the front and for all the three seats in the back as well. These headrests are mechanized with adjustable heights. The controls were fixed to maintain the stability of the car even on the bad path and for the traction to keep hold of the steering even in unavoidable driving situations.

The belt with a 3-point on the centre of the rear helps to keep the passenger hold to seat even during a sudden braking that can otherwise cause injury. The airbags are intuited with occupant sensing technologies that provide two major benefits. The first is that the occupant classification system is able to detect the size of the passenger and deploy airbags in the event of a collision at an appropriate speed. At the same time, if an occupant is not in that particular seat at the time of a collision, the system can detect that as well and will avoid deployment, saving you money on the replacement of the cost of a replacement airbag.

The headlamps are fixed with the LED lights and an automatic dusk sensing option that gives a clear ray of light in noticing the conditions of the road and other objects. The airbags are provided for all the seats on both front and rear as well as side airbags to provide an added level of protection in the event of a side collision. The ILX is provided with anchors that can lockup the seat or prams and door lock safety for rear doors to ensure children seated in the rear are secure.

Visit CardinaleWay Acura to explore the safety features employed on the Acura lineup and the ways in which Acura’s excellent line of vehicles will keep you safe and sound.
