As of May 3rd, 2016, Acura has a reported sales number as record-breaking for the month of April. Combined with Honda, Acura vehicles saw the sales of 148, 829 vehicles, a number that is up 14% from the previous month. The new monthly record was also broken for Honda, which sold 132, 623 vehicles with a 15.5% increase from their sales in April 2015. As for Acura, division sales went up to 16,206, a 9% increase from the April sales of last year.
Gaining so much as a foothold in the luxury vehicle segment is very difficult, yet Acura has managed to carve out a space for itself in this segment with much aplomb with record sedan and truck sales in April 2016. Even the RDX luxury SUV series showed a sales spike, and sedans sold at over 5,500 units in terms of the ILX gateway and the TLX performance luxury sedan modes. The ILX gateway sold around 1,633 units in April, while the RDX recorded 5,905 units sold.
All in all, with significant increases in sales numbers from the previous month, and indeed the previous year, both Honda and Acura are looking at remaining steady in the competitive automotive market this year. With Honda and Acura looking to develop automated cars, as evidenced with the recent testing of the second generation automated Acura, this is no reason to doubt that both brands will continue to maintain, if not exceed, their current sales numbers and projections for the next year.
