Boulder City Acura Shoppers look Ahead At the 2022 Acura MDX
After skipping the 2021 model year, the Acura MDX is back in full force, taking its place among competitors with a redesign that’s sure to please customers of dealers serving Spring Valley Acura shoppers. Acura redesigned the MDX to provide exceptional performance. This midsize three-row luxury SUV gets a host of enhancements, including styling cues taken from the RDX and TLX. Inside, the driver and passengers will marvel at the MDX’s high level of luxury and appointments, including open-pore wood, full-grain Milano leather and aluminum accents.
According to the Acura dealer serving Spring Valley, the 2022 Acura MDX is available in four trim levels, which Acura refers to as packages: MDX, Technology, A-Spec and Advance. In addition, there’s a new performance-oriented Type S model. Powering the MDX is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The outgoing model’s nine-speed automatic transmission is replaced by a fast-shifting 10-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Acura’s Super-Handling All-wheel drive (SH-AWD) is available on the base model and the MDX with the Technology package, which get standard front-wheel drive. SH-AWD is standard on the A-Spec and Advance trims.
The Type S is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that achieves 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2022 Acura MDX stands at 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway for front-wheel-drive models.* With all-wheel drive, those numbers drop slightly to 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway.
Automotive Review Praise
Edmunds is suitably impressed by the 2022 MDX, writing: “The 2022 Acura MDX is a refinement of an SUV that’s already one of the best in its class. We like the improved interior quality and sharper handling that go along with the MDX’s traditional strengths of roominess and value.”
The base 2022 MDX gets a generous number of standard features, including 19-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather interior upholstery, power front seats, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
Other technology features that come standard on the base MDX include a wireless charging pad, Amazon Alexa, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an audio system with nine speakers, and USB charging ports for the first two rows. The new CabinTalk feature utilizes the MDX’s audio system to amplify front-seat passengers’ voices to facilitate communication with those in the back seats. Music lovers will appreciate the crisp, clear sound of the optional concert-quality ELS audio system, which comes with 16 speakers.
A more robust chassis helps to keep the driver and passengers safe. The standard AcuraWatch suite of safety features includes automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor, a rear cross-traffic monitor and a driver attention monitor.
