Presents The New 2020 Acura MDX
Henderson Acura shoppers looking for a luxury midsize SUV without the luxury-car price should take a look at the 2020 Acura MDX. This three-row crossover provides drivers and passengers with a quiet, spacious and comfortable cabin. The ride is smooth, and the Acura MDX is fun to drive, especially when equipped with optional all-wheel drive. Edmunds.com selected the 2020 Acura MDX as one of its Best 3-Row SUVs for 2020.
The 2020 MDX comes with a long list of standard features, something you can’t necessarily say about many rival crossovers. Henderson Acura drivers can add on even more comfort and convenience features in the form of option packages.
The 2020 Acura MDX seats up to seven passengers and is offered in four trim levels: base, Technology, A-Spec and Advance. There’s also a Sport Hybrid model, as well as a performance-oriented A-Spec variant, which we aren’t covering in this review. Powering the MDX is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and buyers can select available all-wheel drive. EPA-estimated fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway.*
Automotive Review Praise
Kelley Blue Book wrote: “Among the more easily recommendable luxury SUVs, the 2020 Acura MDX stands out as a reliable 3-row crossover SUV brimming with luxury details and an enviable resale record. It also shines brightly in the areas of safety, value and owner satisfaction. [T]he MDX’s roughly $45,000 starting price undercuts [the] competitors by a significant margin.”
Not So Standard Features
Standard features on the base trim include power and heated front seats, 14-way-power adjustable driver seat, a 12-way adjustable passenger seat, a power-adjustable steering wheel, leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, a universal garage-door opener, a power tailgate and the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety features. The standard eight-speaker audio system features Bluetooth and USB ports. Also standard are Siri Eyes Free integration and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Most of the MDX’s main options come as part of packages. The Technology package includes an ELS premium audio system with 20-inch wheels, 10-speakers, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a navigation system, power-folding side mirrors and perforated leather seats.
The A-Spec package starts with the features of the Technology package and adds external appearance upgrades and an exclusive interior. The Advance package adds an active-damper system, premium Milano leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming side mirrors and a surround-view camera. The Advance package also gets second-row bucket seats, which lower seating capacity to six. A rear bench is offered with the rear-seat entertainment setup.
Safety is paramount for anyone looking to buy a new SUV. The NHTSA gave the MDX its highest score of five stars for overall safety. The IIHS awarded the 2020 MDX it’s top marks of Good in all crash tests.
