Acura Logo

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced that #Acura Division sales were fairly steady in November. The car manufacturer sold ,616 units sold for a decrease of 5.1 percent.

Honda car sales helped push the brand to a new November sales record. Specifically, the Honda Fit and the Honda Accord led the way for Honda cars; also, the Honda Civic provided strong support.

Acura sales of the redesigned MDX rose 13 percent for 4,622 vehicles. The RDX November sales of 3,750 vehicles rose 1.6 percent.  Another milestone was for the custom-crafted NSX vehicle which topped 200 customer deliveries since sales began in May.

The Acura NSX is a two-seater hybrid sportscar powered by a 3.5 L twin-turbo V6 engine and three electric motors.  Two of the motores form part of the SH-AWD all wheel drive drivetrain, capable of up to 600 hp!  It is a 9-speed dual clutch semi-automatic.

Acura Owners: The DMV Urges You To Check Recall Related To Takata Airbags

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

acura logo 2

Are you currently driving a 2002-2003 Acura?  Then it’s time to bring it to CardinaleWay Acura in Las Vegas.  The New York State DMV is urging owners of certain Acura vehicles to check a safety recall related to Takata airbags.  There are some 2002-2003 #Acura models that, according to tests on Takata airbags, show a 50 percent chance of ruptures during the airbag deployments.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), they estimate up to 3,778 Acuras in New York State still need to participate in the recall.

The NHTSA has confirmed 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries in the U.S. were specifically related to ruptures of Takata airbag inflators.  According to the DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan, the risk of death or serious injury in a crash is high enough that the NHTSA is warning owners not to drive their vehicles, unless they are bringing them in to be repaired.

The specific Acura models affected by this recall are the 2002-2003 Acura TL and the 2003 Acura CL.

Those that may not be sure if their vehicle is part of the recall can visit safercar.gov. Just enter your Vehicle Identification Number to check if their vehicle is affected by any recalls.

Acura Compact Sport Sedan: What is ILX?

Monday, December 26th, 2016

Acura ILX

How is the #Acura ILX redefining the compact sport-sedan category?

First, the ILX has bold styling and its rapid-shifting 8-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) and high-revving standard 201-hp engine turn any road into a driving experience.

The A-SPEC Package takes styling to the next level for the Acura ILX.

The interior and exterior details provide a sportier, bolder appearance. A prospective buyer can choose 18-inch wheels, trunk spoiler, fog lights,

side sills, aluminum pedals, red interior lighting accents, gray contrast stitching and black headliner. In addition, perforated Lux Suede seat inserts are similar refinements as those in the NSX model.

Second, the ELS Studio Premium Audio System provides an audio experience like no other.  The sound has enhanced clarity and is tuned by Grammy award-winning recording engineer and producer Elliot Scheiner. The ELS Studio Premium Audio System has been designed with the goal of reproducing music with the quality of a professional recording studio.

The surround sound can fill the ILX from any stereo digital source.

Lastly, the Acura’s Jewel Eye LED headlights use ten separate LED lamps that mimic natural sunlight.  There are five low-profile LEDs per headlight that provide a brighter, whiter beam, using less energy and lasting much  longer than HID or traditional halogen headlights. The intense, focused beams of light helps the driver view colors more vividly and reduce fatigue at night.

Business Insider’s 2016 Car of the Year: The Acura NSX!

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Acura NSX

In the three year history of the Business Insider’s Car of the Year Award, the new #Acura NSX beat some fierce competition.  The Acura NSX is a worthy winner and a triumph for Acura.

The Acura NSX is a mid-engine supercar from a Japanese brand, but it is actually an all-American machine, designed in California and built in Ohio.

The Business Insider does not use extensive scientific criteria for selecting the best vehicle of the year, they simply do not have the testing facilities. But they do consider each finalist in terms of three key questions: Did the vehicle stand apart from the competition?  Was the vehicle appealing to drive?  Did the vehicle involve a strong business case for the automaker that created it?

The Acura NSX proved to the Business Insider to be amazingly good to look at, a joy to drive and easy to live with. They also tried out the Acura NSX in  three different settings: on the road, on the race track with a transportation reporter and longtime NSX enthusiast behind the wheel and on another track with a pro driver.

No other vehicle generated as much attention from the public as the NSX.  Acura decided to go with hybrid technology, generating 573 horsepower and the twin-turbocharged V-6 offered power on-demand. The NSX proved to be highly forgiving, with the traction going on all four wheels, offering endless grip around corners.

The Acura NSX is a stunning supercar that gets prospective buyers in the showroom.  It’s a car that will set the pace and the tone for Honda and Acura in the coming years.

If you are interested in learning more about the Acura NSX or any Acura model, visit us at our #CardinaleWay Acura dealership in Las Vegas.  Our reputable Sales team can answer all of your questions.  We are the best in Nevada Acura! The Acura MDX Crossover, Part II: So Popular For So Many Reasons

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Acura MDX 2

This is the second of two blogs highlighting the many safety features of #Acura’s MDX Crossover mid-size luxury SUV.  There are so many features and thus, so many reasons why the popularity of this vehicle continues to grow in its third generation.

How safe is the MDX Crossover?  In addition to the standard safety features (numerous airbags, stability and traction control and LED daytime running lights), other safety features are included in all MDX models.

The AcuraWatch Plus is a suite of active safety features:  adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist and lane departure warning. In order to prepare the MDX vehicle and its occupants for a frontal impact, the collision mitigation braking automatically applies the brakes as needed and tightens the seatbelts.

MDX models can also be equipped with the Technology Package.  This package adds 19-inch alloy wheels, Acura Navigation, blind spot information and a 10-speaker premium audio system with hard drive media storage. In addition, MDX models with Technology and Entertainment Packages include heated second-row seating, an upgraded premium audio system, DVD rear seat entertainment with a nine-inch screen and a 110V outlet.  Lastly, the top-tier MDX with Advance and Entertainment Packages adds perforated Milano premium leather seating with heated and ventilated front seats, a 16.2-inch rear seat DVD entertainment system, a 12-speaker audio system and front and rear parking sensors.

If you are interested in experiencing, first-hand, all of the features the Acura MDX Crossover provides, come see us at #CardinaleWay Acura in Las Vegas and take a test drive.  We are the best in Nevada Acura! The Acura MDX Crossover, Part I: So Popular For So Many Reasons

Monday, December 19th, 2016

Acura MDX

#Acura’s mid-size luxury SUV, the MDX Crossover, is in its third generation and continues to grow in popularity.  There are so many features to the MDX Crossover that this is the first, of two parts, describing them. Understanding the MDX Crossover’s many features helps to understand the reasons it is one of Acura’s most popular models.

First, how does the MDX Crossover ride?  It rides on a light-truck chassis and features front and rear lightweight subframes. The MDX is powered by a 3.5L V6, it generates 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. It comes linked to an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission, using a push-button gear selection as well as steering-wheel-mounted paddles. Power is sent to the wheels by Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Prospective buyers can save money if they choose front-wheel drive (by forgoing sending power to all four wheels).

Second, how is the MDX equipped?  Short answer, it is equipped extremely well.  The MDX has LED headlights (“Jewel Eye”), speed-sensitive windshield wipers, seating for seven passengers, a multi-view rear camera, power tailgate, leather seating with heated front seats and tri-zone climate control.  The MDX’s touchscreen, the On-Demand Multi-Use Display, incorporates information, entertainment and climate controls in one easy-to-navigate place. Lastly, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity with email and SMS functionality and an 8-speaker audio system with USB and iPod interface are all part of the standard features list.

Acura Precision Cockpit Is the Future of Interior Design and Technology

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

Acura Dash

Acura has taken another leap into the future of production-model design with the new #AcuraPrecisionCockpit. The next-generation interior is a building block in the foundation that Acura has built on its model of Precision Crafted Performance.

A prototype of the Precision Cockpit, introduced at the #Los Angeles Auto Show in November, demonstrated a driving technology that virtually marries the driver with the vehicle. The concept includes automated driving features, new uses for electrification and driver-machine connectivity. The Precision Cockpit will ultimately be used in all of Acura’s models providing an experience of performance driving in both its look and feel.

Significant, futuristic new features include changes in use of materials – natural wood, brushed metal and leather – along with an expanded and repositioned driver display and a newly conceived instrument panel. The Precision Cockpit’s curved, ergonomic touchpad provides an entirely new experience, combining aspects of systems currently used in luxury models but with refinements that enhance its ease of use and responsiveness. The touchpad itself is positioned within the driver’s natural line of sight and mapped precisely to specific functions on the main display.

Connectivity and semi-automated driving technology are real advancements in the Acura Precision Cockpit. For just one example, when automated systems are activated, advanced sensors can distinguish and display other vehicles and objects on the road, while sensors linked to an advanced vision technology can even display objects that are out of the driver’s vision.

Every feature in the cockpit is devised to give a seamless, luxury-car experience to all of Acura’s production models. The Precision Cockpit engineering team had this in mind when they developed elements of the prototype that include visual, tactile, digital, audio and connectivity innovations. All of these advancements will be refined and customized for installation in your Acura, whatever model you choose, in the very near future. To find out more about the innovative technology that goes into every Acura, take a look at our website at www.CardinaleWayAcura.com.  When you think Acura Las Vegas, think CardinaleWay Acura! Pay Attention to the Symptoms, Then Get an Expert Diagnosis

Tuesday, December 13th, 2016

steering_wheel

There’s so much information available on the internet, we’ve reached critical mass in the “I can do that!” mindset. Look on YouTube, for example, and you can find videos with instructions on anything from how to scramble an egg to how to break a brick with your hand. One big topic is on diagnosing and fixing auto problems. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much you actually know about mechanics and how well you can follow instructions.

Though we don’t necessarily recommend taking that kind of risk, there are signals that your vehicle might require attention. Here are just a couple of things to pay attention to so a small issue doesn’t become a major problem.

How does it smell?

Any unusual interior odors should be checked out. Exhaust fumes, sulfur, mildew or the smell of burnt rubber are all symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored.

How does it feel?

Does your steering wheel feel lose, is it hard to turn, or is it vibrating or shaking? Can you feel air being blown out of your a/c vents? Is there anything different about the way the vehicle turns or backs up? Are your break and gas pedals responsive under your feet?

How does it sound?

Noises are some of the most quickly reported symptoms of trouble. Squeaking, scraping, clicking, grinding, creaking, chattering – there’s a large vocabulary for the sounds that make drivers’ ears perk up. There’s a chance that a description could help determine the source of the problem.

The #Acura is a finely tuned vehicle, which requires expert diagnosis and service. At #CardinaleWay Acura, our Service Department professionals are trained and certified in maintaining and repairing whichever Acura model you drive. Be alert to the signals you’re vehicle is giving you; then, instead of going to YouTube for help, go to our website at www.CardinaleWayAcura.com

How to Take the Heat

Monday, December 12th, 2016

acura logo 2

The driver’s seat is the command and comfort center of your #Acura. But so much of your vehicle’s performance is determined by conditions on the outside. In and around Las Vegas, where our customers do the great majority of their driving, the dry desert air, intense sunlight, high temperatures and cloudless sky can take their toll. Did you know that in July, typically the hottest month of the year here, daytime temperatures are known to go up to 104o and stay as hot as 85o though the night?

#CardinaleWay Acura has a long history of selling and maintaining vehicles in Las Vegas and its surrounding areas. We know how heat and dust affect the performance of your brakes and tires, how fluid levels respond to temperature and even how your leather upholstery should be cared for in our climate. And continual running of your air conditioner means filters need to be checked and replaced more often than in four-seasons locations.

The most important thing, of course, is choosing the right vehicle in the first place. Consider the average distance you typically drive, which could help determine the gas mileage you want your vehicle to deliver. The surrounding mountains might mean the difference in front-, rear-, or all-wheel drive. Roadways get hot, so you should get solid advice on the tires you choose.

With decades of experience in Las Vegas, CardinaleWay Acura is positioned to give you the best advice for purchasing the vehicle that will serve you best, and for a maintenance program that will keep your Acura on the road safely and reliably, even in our enviable climate conditions.
