Where to Have Fun With Your Dog in Las Vegas

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Monday, April 17th, 2017 at 8:54 PM

At CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas, our staff knows how much dogs have become family members these days. It’s nearly impossible to leave home without them. Did you know there are over 35 dog-friendly activities in Las Vegas? Here are just a few of our favorites, in no particular order.

Desert Breeze Dog Park offers fully-fenced separate areas for small dogs (35 lbs or less) and large dogs (over 35 lbs). There are also tables, benches and chairs for people to sit and relax while your pup burns off energy. A hose and doggie bags are also available inside the park. Other similarly-equipped dog parks in the area include: Woofter Dog Park and Barkin’ Basin Dog Park at Wayne Bunker Park

Go for A Hike at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It’s less than a 30-minute drive from the Strip in Las Vegas to this stunning natural area. Pets are allowed on trails in Red Rock Canyon, but need to be kept on a leash. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs. Poop bags are available in the campground and at the Scenic Drive fee station. In the campground, pets must be leashed at all times. Pets must also be leashed at other developed facilities such as the visitor center, Willow Springs picnic area, and Red Rock overlook. Make sure to bring plenty of water for your dog and never ever leave them in the car, due to the extreme temperatures in the Canyon.

Echo Basin  – Fossil Ridge Loop
Blue Diamond Hill is across from the main part of Red Rock Canyon and offers some great hiking trails. Many of these trails were created by mountain bikers and some were created by the horseback riding concession that operates near the trailhead. Parking for this hike is along SR 159 just outside the entrance to the horseback riding road. Again, keep your dog leashed and bring plenty of water.

The TLX upgrade also includes new premium features and technology enhancements that place the TLX among the most technologically advanced and well-equipped cars in its segment.

“The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura’s focus on Precision Crafted Performance,”said Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager. “Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we’re pumped to show how we’re elevating the TLX experience.”

The Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California is responsible for the design of the 2018 TLX five-passenger performance sedan. It is being produced in the U.S. at Acura’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio with domestic and globally sourced parts.

Why It’s Important To Keep Track of Tire Age

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at 7:04 PM

Did you that tire age is even more important than tread depth? Our CardinaleWay Acura Las vegas dealership wants to make sure you keep track of your vehicle’s tire age, including the spare. Tires have the greatest effect on the way your vehicle handles and brakes. If the tire store recommends new tires at your five-year checkup, we recommend you spend the money and don’t put it off. You could save a life.

The Dangers of Buying Used Tires
In February 2008, the owner of a 1998 Ford Explorer in Georgia bought a used tire for his SUV. Two weeks later, the tread suddenly separated from the tire causing the Explorer to go out of control and hit a motorcycle, killing its rider. An post-crash analysis of the used tire showed that it was nearly 10 years old.

Why Old Tires Are Dangerous
For years, people have relied on a tire’s tread depth to determine the condition of the tires. But did you know the rubber compounds in a tire deteriorate with time, regardless of the condition of the tread? And an old tire poses a significant safety hazard.

Sean Kane, president of Safety Research & Strategies, Inc., says, “If you take a rubber band that’s been sitting around a long time and stretch it, you will start to see cracks in the rubber,” says Kane. That’s basically what happens to a tire. Over time, cracks in the rubber develop on the surface and inside the tire as well. This cracking can eventually cause the steel belts in the tread to separate from the rest of the tire.

For most people, old tires are not an issue. If you drive 12,000-15,000 miles annually, a tire’s tread will wear out in three to four years, well before the rubber compound does. But if you only drive 6,000 miles a year, or have a specialized car you only drive on weekends, aging tires could be an issue. The age warning also applies to spare tires and “new” tires that have never been used but are old.

How Long Does a Tire Last?
Tires need to be inspected annually after the fifth year. Many car manufacturers recommend replacing tires after five years. But, if you live in a warm or coastal climate, your tires will age more quickly, according to the NHTSA. This includes the spare, which could be ‘baked’ in the trunk of your vehicle.

2017 Acura RDX

Is a small, luxury SUV on your shopping list? Our CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas sales team invites you to test drive the 2017 Acura RDX. This stylish Acura is one of Edmund reviewers’ picks in its segment. They praised its powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, comfortable and stylish interior and wide array of standard features.

RDX Features
The RDX offers a great value for the money. It features the quickest acceleration in its segment. Passengers will enjoy the elevated rear seat with lots of legroom and a good view. Its backseat is large enough to fit a rear-facing baby seat or a pair of growing teenagers and it has ample cargo space.

The RDX Is An Affordable SUV
A fully loaded #2017RDX with the Advance package and all-wheel drive costs little more than the most basic BMW X3, Jaguar F-Pace or Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. It includes high-end features such as the AcuraWatch safety system. The AcuraWatch system features forward collision warning and automatic braking system, lane-departure warning and keeping system, adaptive cruise control and a color trip computer display. You also get blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems, a navigation system, traffic information, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dimming side mirrors and more. You’ll enjoy the comfort of leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and eight-way power driver and passenger seats. Smartphone apps, HD radio, Aha Internet radio capability and a 10-speaker Acura/ELS sound system are just some of the many connectivity features.

The RDX received a top score of five stars for total crash protection in government testing and the IIHS top rating of Good.

The Aquarium at The Silverton Hotel

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Monday, April 10th, 2017 at 6:54 PM

Las Vegas is filled with amazing things to do and see. One of our CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas staff favorites is the Aquarium at The Silverton Hotel. It’s easy to let your cares melt away as you become mesmerized by the more than 4,000 colorful, exotic fish swimming in the Silverton Aquarium.

The Silverton Aquarium Features Mermaids & Fish
Whether or not you grew up loving Ariel and Sebastian from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” you’re in for a real treat. While there’s not likely to be a singing crab, there are some beautiful “mermaids” swimming in the Silverton’s 117,000-gallon reef aquarium. The mermaids swim alongside the fish and do everything from blowing bubbles to interacting with kids watching from the outside.

The Silverton’s mermaids in their colorful fins and bikini tops, twirl, flip, dance and do other fun stunts. It’s easy to believe they are part fish! In addition to the mermaids, you can also sometimes catch divers feeding the stingrays. During the feedings, there’s a guide outside the tank taking questions from the audience. The divers have a built-in speaker in their suit and can answer anything you want to know about the fish.

Divers also share fascinating facts about the aquarium. For instance, the staff spends 32 hours each week cleaning the tank. And if you ever wondered if the bigger fish eat the smaller ones, it rarely happens because the fish are well fed.

While you’re visiting the #SilvertonAquarium, make sure to check out the mermaid art gallery outside the Mermaid Cafe and Lounge. All art is available for sale and can even be shipped out of state.

Looking for a New Set of Wheels? Come to CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas
While we don’t have mermaids at CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas, we do have a friendly and knowledgeable sales team who look forward to helping you find your perfect car. Acura NSX GT3 Places Eighth In Sebring Endurance Race

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at 7:00 PM

CardinaleWay Acura congratulates Acura Motorsports and Michael Shank Racing (MSR) for their success in bringing the team’s two Acura NSX GT3s to the finish line in the 65th running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 12-hour endurance race.

The Acura Team
The MSR Acura team finished eighth in this difficult 12 hour endurance race around the very bumpy and demanding 3.7-mile Sebring circuit, built on the grounds of a former World War II Air Force training base. The #86 entry of Tom Dyer, Oswaldo “Ozz” Negri Jr. and Jeff Segal finished eighth in the GTD class after managing to stretch the fuel mileage of their NSX GT3 to the maximum in the final hours.

The sister #93 NSX GT3 driven by Andy Lally, Katherine Legge and Mark Wilkins was as high as second in the opening hour and was fourth in class after four hours. But shortly after the five-hour mark, a suspension issue sent the car to the pits where a left-front shock absorber was replaced. This cost the team eight laps. Back on track, they drove competitively to the finish, but couldn’t make up the lost laps, so finished 14th in GTD.

Competitors
Competing in the GTD class of the sports car racing championship, the NSX GT3s race against premium automotive brands including Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

The Acura NSX GT3
Developed from the commercial production Acura NSX, the NSX GT3 race car model uses the same ultra-rigid,lightweight multi-material NSX body with an aluminum-intensive space frame. The 3.5-liter racing engine uses the same design specifications as the production Acura NSX. A six-speed, sequential-shift racing gearbox delivers power to the rear wheels.

Acura Sports Car Racing
The #AcuraNSXGT3 is the most recent in a rich legacy of Acura sports car racing championships, including the 1991, 1992 and 1993 IMSA Camel Lights manufacturer and driver championships, and the 2009 American Le Mans Series manufacturer, driver and team championships in both the LMP1 and LMP2 classes.

Steve Eriksen (Vice President and COO, Honda Performance Development): “All things considered, this was another step forward for the NSX GT3 program. Both #MichaelShankRacing Acuras got to the finish at a notoriously tough track, as evidenced by the attrition throughout the field. The eighth-place finish for the #86 car keeps Acura well in contention for the North American Endurance Championship.” Ozz Negri (Driver, Michael Shank Racing #86 Acura NSX GT3): “Sebring is the toughest track and our Acura NSX passed the test.”

Test Drive the 2017 NSX Production Model at CardinaleWay Acura
While we don’t have the NSX GT3 sports racing car on our lot, we do have the sporty NSX production model that will get your pulse racing. CardinaleWay Acura is your Acura dealer in Las Vegas. We have the complete line of Acura models, including the sophisticated TLX and the sporty RDX. Whether you’re shopping for a new or pre-owned vehicle, financing or want to bring your vehicle in for service, we hope you come to CardinaleWay Acura. Acura’s Maintenance Minder Keeps Your Acura Performing Its Best

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at 6:58 PM

Proper maintenance service will greatly extend the life of a vehicle, ensuring it is reliable, safe to drive and covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. It will also increase the resale value. Acura’s Maintenance Minder system now makes it easy to know when to bring your Acura in for service at our CardinaleWay Acura dealership. We make it easy by allowing you to schedule on our website: www.cardinalewayacura.com, as well as by calling our service department.

Factors That Affect Engine Oil Life
The Maintenance Minder keeps track of engine oil life and allows drivers to assess oil quality at the touch of a button. Certain driving habits can affect the life of the engine oil, as well as driving conditions such as temperature and terrain. Lighter, more moderate driving conditions and temperature will require fewer oil changes and maintenance, while more severe driving conditions will require more frequent oil changes and maintenance. For instance, under light conditions such as freeway driving, in a moderate climate, on flat or slightly hilly terrain, carrying a light load and with no extended idling time, the expected oil life on an Acura is between 7,500-10,000 miles. On the other hand, if your driving is on mountainous roads, including off-road driving, towing or carrying heavy loads, extreme cold or hot driving conditions with extended engine idling, the expected oil life is between 3,000-4,999 miles.

How Acura’s Maintenance Minder System Works
Once the information display number goes from 100% fresh oil to 15% dirty oil, a wrench-shaped light will appear on the dashboard, along with maintenance codes that indicate what service your vehicle needs. This gives you plenty of time to plan ahead to have your vehicle services. When  the information display number reaches 0%, the oil life is over, and the car starts accumulating negative miles. This indicates that your vehicle is past due for servicing. Remember: if the vehicle accumulates significant negative mileage, the engine is increasingly at risk of serious damage.

Have Your Maintenance Performed by CardinaleWay Acura Professionals
If your #AcuraMaintenanceMinder system indicates that your vehicle is ready for servicing, have it checked out by CardinaleWay Acura’s certified mechanics. CardinaleWay Acura is your Acura dealer in Las Vegas. Whether you’re shopping for a new or pre-owned vehicle, financing or want to bring your vehicle in for service, we hope you come to CardinaleWay Acura. Remember, it’s easy to schedule a test drive online. Acura is owned by Honda and we are proud to feature the entire line of Acura new cars.
