Honda Center for Gait Analysis and Mobility Enhancement Established at Nationwide Children’s Hospital

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at 9:07 PM

Honda has donated $1 million to establish the Honda Center for Gait Analysis and Mobility Enhancement at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Designed to enhance pediatric mobility, the center is the first of its kind in the country. Come to CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas if you’re looking to improve your mobility on the road. Acura is owned by Honda and we have the latest Acura new cars.

The Honda Center for Gait Analysis & Mobility Enhancement

The mission of the new center is to improve the mobility of all children by promoting ways to manage patients with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disease, congenital anomalies and amputations and any condition that limits mobility. The new center will provide comprehensive gait analysis, spine motion analysis, sports performance programs and injury prevention. In addition, it will be a leader in prosthetic and wheelchair development. Sports injuries account for about 3,000,000 pediatric emergency visits each year.

“Honda’s support makes possible unique services and opportunities that will set the standard for medicine across the country,” said Jim Digan, President, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation. The center will provide the opportunity for life-changing clinical care.

“At Honda, we consider ourselves a mobility company  – and we want our products and our philanthropy to focus on the joy and freedom people have when they have mobility,” said Tom Shoupe, executive vice president and COO of Honda of America, Mfg. “Whether motorcycles, automobiles, marine mobility aircraft, or assistive robotics, we have a long tradition of providing mobility products and so it was a natural fit to work with Nationwide Children’s on a center that would work to expand physical mobility for patients.”

How to Extend the Life of Your Acura & Save At The Pump

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at 9:07 PM

Our #CardinaleWayAcura Las Vegas dealership would like to share some tips on helping your Acura serve you well for as long as possible. We also invite you to visit our dealership to see the latest Acura vehicles. Acura is owned by Honda.

Stay in tune
Keep your engine as well tuned as possible. A poorly tuned engine can increase fuel consumption by up to 50 percent! Regular tune-ups, using the right grade of oil and having clean air filters will help you burn less gas, pollute less and more importantly, will prevent car trouble down the line.

Be aware of your surroundings
Observe the speed limit and avoid sudden starts and stops. Did you know that erratic acceleration and quick braking uses more fuel than driving in a smoother fashion? In addition, the wind resistance caused by driving fast ends up costing you money. For every 5 mph you drive over the 60 mph mark, you add more than ten cents to the price of every gallon of gas you buy.

Make sure your tires are properly inflated
Did you know that nearly 36% of cars are driven with underinflated tires? Check your tire pressure regularly with a tire gauge. Underinflated tires reduce fuel efficiency by up to 2 percent for each pound that the tires are not properly inflated.

Use your air conditioner less
Your vehicle’s air conditioner uses power generated by the engine, so only use it when necessary for short periods. Parking in the shade and using a reflective windshield shade will help keep your car cool on hot days.

Get the junk outta’ your trunk
Avoid carrying extra weight in your car. Extra weight saps your fuel economy, so unless you’re planning on playing that day, leave those golf clubs at home.

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Monday, July 10th, 2017 at 8:58 PM

If you haven’t yet visited The Venetian in Las Vegas, you’re in for a treat. This grand resort has just about all the highlights of Venice, including the Campanile Tower where Galileo first demonstrated his telescope to the Doge of Venice, to St. Marc’s square, to art installations, fountains and more. Make sure to find time to take a romantic glide on the Grand Canal in an authentic Venetian gondola, guided by your own singing gondolier. The Venetian has it all. CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas has it all when it comes to your transportation needs. We hope you’ll pay us a visit when you’re in the market for a new set of wheels. We have the latest Acura new cars and would love to set you up for a test drive.

Art at the Venetian

“Another Sky” is new installation in the Waterfall Atrium that debuted in June 2017. Artist Anne Patterson was inspired by the sky and tailored the installation to the unique architecture of the Waterfall Atrium. Another Sky features approximately 32 miles of reflective ribbon in the soaring 55-foot atrium ceiling.

“Acqua di Cristallo” stands in the center of the Palazzo Lobby. This unique water sculpture by Samuel G. Bocchicchio’s features translucent carved women on the sides of the sculpture, while water provides a coruscating effect that casts light all about the grand lobby of the hotel. This gorgeous work of art occupies two levels of The Palazzo, with its base on the ground level.

Take a Romantic Gondola Ride
Make sure to leave time for a romantic glide down the Grand Canal in an authentic Venetian gondola. Your singing gondolier will take you under bridges and balconies, beside cafes and through the vibrant Venetian streetscape.  You can also choose an outdoor ride on the Strip.

Five of Acura’s Six Vehicles Are Built In Ohio

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at 12:06 AM

Acura’s MDX luxury SUV is now produced at the East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) in Marysville, Ohio. ELP joins Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln, Ala. in producing the MDX. The Acura NSX supercar and the TLX and ILX luxury sedans are also produced at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville. CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas is proud our vehicles are built in America. We invite you to come test drive our Acura new cars.

MDX Production
Upgrades to the East Liberty Auto Plant make it possible for the ELP to assume sole production of the MDX this fall, freeing up the Alabama plant to increase production of the Honda Pilot.

“From our startup three decades ago producing small sedans to the three different light trucks we build today, our associates continue to demonstrate the skills needed for high quality and flexible manufacturing,” said Tim Myers, East Liberty Auto Plant Manager. “I’m proud of the commitment of our team to take on new challenges to meet the needs of our customers.”

The 2017 Acura MDX now includes many new features and technologies, such as the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies. These are now offered as standard equipment on all 2017 MDX models, a first in the luxury SUV segment.

East Liberty Plant
More than 2,300 employees staff the East Liberty Plant. The plant employs 2,350 technicians and has the annual capacity to manufacture 240,000 passenger cars and light trucks. The 2.8 million square foot plant started production in December 1989.

How To Extend the Life of Your Fuel Pump

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 at 12:04 AM

At CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas, we want to help you keep your vehicle running smoothly.  Our Service department is always ready to service your vehicle. We recommend following a regular maintenance schedule to always keep your Acura in top condition. In addition, there are some easy things you can do to avoid costly automotive repairs. Today’s tip from #CardinaleWayAcura Las Vegas helps prolong the life of your fuel pump. It’s really easy –  avoid running your vehicle on empty! Instead, fill-up when your tank gets to the one-quarter mark. We invite you to come see our extensive collection of Acura new cars and got for a test drive.

Here’s Why
Did you know that running on empty is actually bad for your fuel pump? Here’s why: when your tank is almost empty, more air can enter the fuel pump. This causes premature wear. In addition, when the fuel level is below one-quarter full, the dirt that settles at the bottom of the fuel tank can make its way to the fuel line. Once it’s there, it can easily enter the engine causing all sorts of trouble. You’ll save money in the long run by not running on empty!

Avoid Being Stranded

Another reason it’s a good idea to keep your gas tank filled is that extreme weather conditions can present potentially dangerous situations. Why take the chance of running out of gas in the hot desert without cell phone service?  Always make sure you have more than enough fuel to take you where you’re going. Stay safe and don’t let the gas gauge fall below one-quarter of a tank.

CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas Has An Outstanding Service Department
We recommend you bring your Acura to #CardinaleWayAcura Las Vegas where our highly qualified Service technicians will take care of your vehicle like it’s their own. Acura Debuts the 2018 TLX A-Spec in Pikes Peak Open

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at 9:53 PM

Acura will have a fleet of vehicles taking part in the Pikes Peak Open. The turbocharged, 500-horsepower 2018 TLX A-Spec will compete in the exhibition class. The TLX GT will once again compete in the Pikes Peak Open class. The GT3-inspired Acura NSX supercar will compete in the Time Attack 1 Class and the Acura TLX and MDX will serve as official pace cars and Rookie Orientation vehicles. If you’d like to test drive the luxury counterparts of these cars, come to CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas where we have a complete inventory of Acura new cars. This is the sixth consecutive year that Acura will race vehicles in the Pikes Peak event.

2018 Acura TLX A-Spec Racing Debut
The Pikes Peak Acura TLX A-Spec has been modified for this hill climb course. Custom engine software and tuning was done in-house by a team of North American Honda R&D engineers. In addition, all luxury appointments were removed from the inside to reduce weight. Driver Nick Robinson has run the course for several years, winning the motorcycle Pikes Peak 250 class in 2014. Last year, Robinson won the Time Attack 2 Production class, driving the 2017 NSX.

Acura TLX GT Returns to Competition
The all-wheel drive TLX GT race car features the same twin-turbo V6 motor setup used in the Pirelli World Challenge series. It has been tuned on multiple levels to accommodate the elevation changes of Pikes Peak. The TLX GT will be driven by Peter Cunningham of RealTime Racing who has been racing Acuras since 1992. This is Cunningham’s first Pikes Peak race. He has won 14 professional drivers’ championships in a variety of disciplines including road racing, ice racing and performance rallying.

“I’ve always wanted to race with Acura at Pikes Peak. It’s a challenge I’ve never done,” said Cunningham.  “I think we have a great opportunity with the Acura TLX GT and look forward to seeing how it competes on the hill.”

Test Drive the 2017 NSX and TLX at CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas
CardinaleWay Acura Las Vegas has the complete line of Acura models, including the sophisticated #TLX and the sporty RDX. How & Why Crash Test Dummies Have Evolved

By David Sayas | Posted in Uncategorized on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 at 9:51 PM

Have you ever wondered about the dummies used in crash tests? Up until  recently, these dummies were the size of a thin, young male. However, since the 1950s-60s, the American driving population has been aging, gaining weight and now includes more women drivers. It turns out each body type reacts differently in a crash test and in real life crashes. As a result, crash dummies have evolved. At #CardinaleWayAcura Las Vegas, we look forward to any innovations that will keep drivers and passengers safer. We invite you to our Las Vegas dealership to see and test drive the Acura new cars.

Why Is It Important to Have Different-Sized Crash Dummies?
Changes in crash dummies were prompted by medical data collected by trauma experts at the University of Michigan. These experts noted the discrepancy between the traditional crash test dummies and actual crash victims. According to Stewart Wang, M.D., a trauma surgeon, “Crash-test dummies look nothing like my patients. You can’t talk about injuries without talking about the person . . . it’s individuals who are hurt. The condition, size and shape of an individual is hugely important in how severe their injuries are in any given crash.”

Wang’s insight and research prompted important changes in automotive safety. The research and engineering community is continuing to develop safety solutions based on a detailed analysis of live patients from real-world crashes rather than laboratory testing of cadavers.

Humanetics, the company that develops and makes crash test dummies, now creates dummies that reflect the size and shape of today’s drivers. For example, they now have a 273-pound obese dummy that weighs 106 pounds more than the traditional model. They’re also working on a crash dummy based on an elderly, overweight, 70-year-old woman.
